IN MEMORIAM: MEMORIAL DAY 2011 (FOR CONSCIENTIOUS OBJECTORS)

“I might have been someone’s protector,
Refusing to go off to war.
I, a conscientious objector,
Would not contribute to the gore
Of helping fellow workers slaughter
Each other for that foul globetrotter,
Lord Capital, as he connives
To cheapen us by taking lives.
Though war began with Cain and Able,
God turned Cain loose to walk the earth
And so the god of war claimed birth.
Since then the world’s become unstable
And celebrates the Cain’s who’ve died
Not us… who had no ‘civic pride.’ ”
