Contend that markets make us free
As individuals and nations,
It undermines our dignity.
It argues in the name of freedom:
The rich exist so we may feed’em.
And when, if ever, they are done
It’s way too late for 911.
Because by then all public service
Is divvied up and privatized
Though very often it’s disguised
To mask what makes elites so nervous:
That when we have no more to lose
We’ll offer what they can’t refuse.
