FOR JOHN TIRMAN

Who claims our executions tarnish
Our leading role in human rights?
I claim they add a bit of garnish
That might upset the appetites
For using laws as camouflaging
In their attempts at sabotaging
The healthy body politic.
They sap our strength. It makes me sick.
I'd argue for the execution
Of murderers who so adore
Their killing fields that nevermore
Can we uphold the Constitution:
Kill one and you may get the chair;
Kill thousands and it's c'est la guerre.
